Charmes Chambertin Jadot 2003

Louis Jadot Charmes-Chambertin 2003 is a mature-vintage Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Charmes-Chambertin in the Gevrey-Chambertin commune of the Côte de Nuits. Charmes-Chambertin occupies the lowest slopes of the Gevrey Grand Cru belt. The soil of Charmes is rocky, with a pebbly, chalky topsoil and a higher proportion of clay towards the lower sections of the slope. While typically it may not produce wines of the same power and structure as its more illustrious neighbours (most notably Le Chambertin Grand Cru just above it) Charmes-Chambertin is nevertheless noted for Pinot Noirs of striking elegance and perfume. "Riper and fuller on the nose with anise, mocha, tobacco and intense plum if not prune with soft, forward, lush and opulent mouth coating flavours underpinned by buried structure and excellent finishing intensity.
