Claire and Mike Allan were drawn to Marlborough by the potential for intense fruit flavours and the promise of rounded, elegant wines. They bought the land in 1990 and started making wine at Huia in 1996. On the nose Huia Chardonnay shows ripe peach and pear that combines with lifted vanilla pod. The palate has rich stone and citrus fruit aromas with a silky creamy texture. Delicious with chargrilled salmon, lobster, roast chicken, pasta in cream sauces and soft cheeses.
