Allt-A-Bhainne

Modernist Malt

Allt-a-Bhainne mostly produces single malt for the Chivas Regal blends

A relatively modern Speyside distillery, Allt-a-Bhainne was built in the mid 1970s in the modernist architectural style by Seagram, the Canadian owners of Chivas Regal. The distillery has had periods of closure over the years as demand for Scotch waxed and waned, but is now operating at full capacity once more and owned by the Pernod Ricard group. The team run two wash and two spirit stills, working to a capacity of around 4.2 million litres a year.

Mostly producing whisky for use in Chivas Regal, Allt-a-Bhainne produces malt in various styles to suit the requirements of the blenders - the vast majority is a light, estery malt, but the team occasionally run heavily peated spirit off the stills. Allt-a-Bhainne is rarely seen as a single malt, but independent bottles do crop up now and then.
