Alheit Vineyards Lost and Found Straw Wine 2019 is a sweet wine produced from Muscat of Alexandria grapes in the Breedekloof Valley of the Swartland, South Africa. This one-off bottling of naturally sweet wine from winemaker Chris Alheit uses centenarian Muscat grapes from a farm called Gevonden, close to Rawsonville in the Breedekloof Valley. It was bottled at just 7% ABV with a massive 450g/l of residual sugar. 2019 was the last vintage in which the grapes were harvested by the De Wet/Boonzaaier family, who lived on and farmed Gevonden for six generations. Just 5,000 half-bottles were produced. "Gloriously mouth coating, hedonistic and persistent with just the most subtle sappy, pithy, bitter orange peel vermouth twang." Greg Sherwood MW, 2021
