Situated amidst the sand dunes of Hemel-en-Aarde, Ataraxia was established in 2004 by the husband-and-wife duo, Kevin and Hanli Grant. Kevin, a former Zoologist, delved into the nuances of Hemel-en-Aarde`s terroir during his tenure as the head winemaker at Hamilton Russel. This distinctive wine, an intriguing departure from Kevin`s expertise in Chardonnay, underwent skin fermentation and ageing in older wood barrels. The result is a slightly waxy and tannic expression, complemented by supporting acidity, delightful minerality, and a savoury edge.
