Azores Wine Company Vinha Dos Utras 2020

Azores Wine Company Vinha Dos Utras 2020 is a full-bodied white wine from the Azores Islands of Portugal. Produced from a field blend of native white grape varieties (mostly Arinto dos Açores along with Verdelho, Boal and Alicante Branco) this wine was matured in a combination of steel barrels (yes, steel barrels) and French oak barrels for nine months. Fewer than 1,000 bottles were made. This extraordinary white wine is expressive of the volcanic soils of Pico Island and displays notes of mandarin, iodine, graphite and smoke, with a saline, mineral core. A wine that would pair very well with shellfish but with the body and structure to also match up to rich, fatty meat dishes, such as slow-roast pork belly.
