Barbaresco Gaja 1969

Gaja Barbaresco is a true icon of Italian wine and this is the flagship bottling of the pre-eminent Barbaresco estate. Although the Gaja family has been making wine for five generations, the architect of its modern-day success was Angelo Gaja, who took over the family business in 1970. Winemaking is now overseen by Angelo`s daughter, Gaia. The 1969 vintage is still very much alive and endlessly complex, with striking elegance and length on the palate. Savoury notes of earth, dried leaves and truffle combine with sweet cranberry and rose petal, giving way to darker fruit notes with time in the glass.
