Bat Gara 18 Meses Txakoli 2020

Bat Gara 18 Meses Txakoli 2020 is a medium-bodied white wine produced from Hondarrabi Zuri grapes in the Txakoli region of Basque Spain. Bodegas Bat Gara was founded in 2012 by a priest, a restauranteur and a rancher, and is just one of seven wineries in the tiny 95-hectare appellation of Arabaka Txakolina, just south of Bilbao, which itself was only granted DO status as recently as 2001. This barrel-fermented and aged Txakoli is produced with 95% Hondarribi Zuri and 5% Riesling. It is fermented in chestnut barrels and aged in the same vessels for around eight months. Expect vibrant tropical and citrus fruits with complementary notes of white flowers, hay and vanilla. The barrel maturation also adds volume and texture to the palate, which also tempering the naturally high acidity of the grape varieties used.
