Albert Bichot Bâtard-Montrachet 2011 is a Grand Cru Burgundy white wine from the climat of Bâtard-Montrachet in the Puligny-Montrachet commune of the Côte de Beaune. Located directly below Le Montrachet at the base of the Montrachet hill, Bâtard-Montrachet is bisects the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Because Bâtard lies on deeper, more clay-dominant soil than Le Montrachet (and Chevalier-Montrachet), its Chardonnays are often rounder than those of its Grand Cru neighbours. This 2011 expression from Albert Bichot shows admirable restraint, however, and no little finesse.
