Domaine Blain-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet 2006 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru vineyard of Bâtard-Montrachet in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Run by husband-and-wife team Jean-Marc Blain and Claudine Gagnard, along with their son, Marc-Antonin, Domaine Blain-Gagnard is a winery steeped in Burgundian tradition, with impeccable attention to detail in the vineyard and the cellar yielding an enviable range of concentrated Burgundy wines. The family uses around 15% new barrels for its Premier Cru wines and around 30% new for its Grands Crus. "A subtle touch of pain grillé frames an expressive nose of primarily ripe yellow orchard fruit and a hint of orange peel dissolves into rich, powerful and tautly muscled flavours that are bigger and more structured than those of the Criots yet somehow slightly finer as well though perhaps slightly less complex. This too is impeccably proportioned. A qualitative choice." Burghound, 2002
