Chene Bleu Heloise 2015

Chêne Bleu Héloïse is a Northern Rhône, or perhaps even `Super-Rhône, -style Syrah-Grenache red blend from the biodynamic Chêne Bleu estate in Vaucluse. This relatively new project helmed by Xavier and Nicole Rolet released its first vintage in 2006. With vineyards at around 600m elevation close to the Montmirail de Gigondas, Chêne Bleu is one of the highest-altitude producers in the region. The generous sunshine and large diurnal temeprature shift they enjoy enables them to produce red wines which combine the deep, concentrated fruit of the southern Rhône with the Northern Rhône`s finesse. With a touch of high-altitude Roussanne added to the Syrah-dominant blend, the Héloïse cuvée is both profound and perfumed, with softly spiced, oak-accented blackberry fruit and notes of cedar, peony and garrigue.
