Currently owned by Diageo, Glen Elgin was founded in 1898 by a former manager at Glenfarclas, William Simpson. This particular release was distilled in 1998 and aged for over 20 years in a combination of refill American oak hogsheads and first-fill European oak sherry butts. On the nose, expect aromas of honey, toasted almonds, and a hint of vanilla. The palate is smooth and creamy, combining fruitcake, toffee and a subtle spiciness.
