Kenwood Jack London Cabernet Sauvignon 1986 is a fully mature Cabernet from the Sonoma County region of California. The estate`s Jack London cuvée is made from fruit from a single vineyard on the former ranch of the celebrated US author Jack London. The soil in this vineyard on the western slope of Sonoma Valley is of a distinctive red volcanic material. Kenwood is the exclusive producer of wines from this exceptional vineyard site. The Kenwood Winery was established by John Sheela and his brothers-in-law, Mike and Marty Lee, on Highway 12 in the Sonoma town of Kenwood in 1970. For more than 40 vintages, Kenwood has produced exceptional Cabernet which reflects the extraordinary, diverse terroir of Sonoma Mountain. "This wine from Kenwood is a monster Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibiting youthful colours, and huge quantities of fruit, extract, glycerin, and tannin...Although it possesses a youthful black/ruby/purple colour, full body, and gobs of sweet, smoky, herb and liquorice-tinged, blackcurrant fruit, its finish is ferociously tannic. This wine is entirely too young and hard to drink, but it is powerful, rich, and impressive." Wine Advocate, 1996
