Marcassin Lorenzo Vineyard Chardonnay 1993 is a mature-vintage single-vineyard Chardonnay produced by the Marcassin winery in Sonoma, California. Founded in 1991, Marcassin (French for ‘young wild boar’) is a tiny winery located on the Sonoma Coast that focuses solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Having either worked or consulted for some of the region’s finest wineries (e.g. Peter Michael, Colgin and Bryant), the supremely talented owner and winemaker, Helen Turley, is considered to be one of the most influential figures in Californian wine. "The exquisite 1993 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard from the Sonoma Coast reveals a smoky, buttered, roasted hazelnut, ripe orange-scented nose, full body, an exceptionally impressive, layered, concentrated mouthfeel, and gorgeous purity and length. Only a handful of the greatest burgundies (ie, Coche-Dury`s 1986 and 1990 Corton-Charlemagnes, Leroy`s 1989 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres, and Michel Niellon`s 1985, 1986, and 1989 Batard-Montrachet) can match the spectacular level of complexity and quality Marcassin`s 1993 Lorenzo Vineyard Chardonnay has achieved."
