Named after the Latin term "mother of wine," this winery stands as Argentina`s first solar-powered facility, exclusively dedicated to the country`s flagship grape, Malbec. Established in 2008 by two winemakers, the Matervini collection now comprises six distinct Malbec expressions, each sourced from various soil types. These wines reflect the diverse geology of the Andean foothills, expressing their unique character with purity and pride. This release hails from the `Alteza` vineyard, situated in Yacochuya on the western slopes of the Cafayate Valley, perched at an elevation of 7,200 feet. Sharing soil characteristics with Rupestre due to its location in the Pre-Cordillera foothills, this vineyard`s terrace was constructed centuries ago by indigenous inhabitants and relies on snowmelt for irrigation. The distinguishing traits of this Malbec are rooted in its mineral essence and robust structure.
