Meursault La Sève du Clos Arnaud Ente 2005 is an expression of Chardonnay sourced exclusively from the 0.32-hectare La Sève du Clos vineyard, a monopole for Arnaud Ente. Located within Meursault, this site is characterised by ancient vines cultivated on clay and limestone soils. The 2005 version exhibits a pale yellow hue, revealing aromas that range from citrus and mineral notes to hints of butterscotch and fine spice. The palate displays a balance of density and acidity, with a textured mouthfeel, highlighted by a lingering mineral finish. Arnaud Ente is known for his meticulous vineyard practices, focussing on biodynamic principles.

The 2005 Meursault La Sève du Clos has an incredibly intense nose that belies its age: struck flint, jasmine, lemon thyme and crushed stone. Wonderful. The palate is beautifully balanced with a lot of vigor, considering it is already 17 years old. It rests on a killer line of acidity (this was very early-picked) with an animated finish plugged into the mainline. Superb. Tasted at Robert's dinner in Beaune. Neal Martin1st March 2023

A selection from Ormeaux of 100 year-old vines which belong to Marie-Odile’s father, Thevenot. Very intense, so much so this is almost more like essence of Meursault than a Meursault. Exceptionally clean, clear-cut and transparent with enormous tension yet great depth of flavour too. Admirable attention to detail here, it seems. Should have a long drinking life. I can’t imagine myself giving 18 points to many village Meursaults…. (JR)Jancis Robinson2nd August 2007

Balance and Complexity

A leading light in Meursault, Burgundy, Arnaud Ente and his wife, Marie-Odile craft exquisite micro-production Burgundies that easily compete with the finest in the region. The Domaine owns four hectares which are managed with a very small and hands-on team. The key grape varieties here are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, used to produce stand out Meursault, Puligny Montrachet and Bourgogne Pinot Noir that are renowned for their precision and elegance.

The style has tended towards the opulent, with late picking for fuller ripeness being a key part of Arnaud's philosophy in the 1990s. More recently though the wines have presented with greater levels of freshness and minerality as the winemaking practices have changed and evolved.
