Montevertine is a cult producer of premium red wines primarily crafted from Sangiovese grapes in Tuscany. Its origins date back to 1967 when Sergio Manetti acquired a holiday property in Chianti and planted two hectares of vines, initially intending to produce wine for friends and family. Currently overseen by Sergio`s son, Martino Manetti, the estate gained renown. ‘Rosso’ is their historic wine, produced from 1971 to 1981 as Chianti Classico and from 1982, following their withdrawal from the Chianti Classico Consortium, simply as Montevertine. Made from selected Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino grapes, it matures for two years in barrels of Slavonian and Allier oak.
