Château Montrose 1976 is a mature-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux red wine from the Saint-Estèphe Second Growth of Château Montrose. A veritable jewel of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with a history that dates back as far as 1815, Montrose spans about 95ha of vineyards which are planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. All are farmed organically. "Undoubtedly one of the successes from this vintage and destined to be one of the longest-lived wines of 1976, Montrose continues to exhibit a dark ruby colour, a spicy, vanillin oakiness, and a generous, deep, black currant fruitiness. While many 1976s have turned brown and begun to dry out, losing their fruit, Montrose remains young, impressive, and promising..." Robert Parker, 1998
