The 1996 Chateau Mouton Rothschild appears to have entered the initial phase of its optimal drinking period. The tannins have mellowed, and the wine has expanded across the palate, enabling the enjoyment of ripe, sweet, and fresh currants, accompanied by notes of spice and blackberries. Its aroma profile includes hints of herbs, cedar, and leafy tobacco, both on the nose and palate. Made from a blend virtually identical to the 1995 – 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc.
