One of the famous wines in the world, Château Mouton-Rothschild is located in Pauillac, around 30 miles north-west of Bordeaux itself. A Second Growth until 1972, the winery was official elevated to the high rank of Bordeaux classification in 1973 after much campaigning by the famous Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
The 2015 release is a varietal mix of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Elegant on the nose with blackberry and bilberry notes together with toast and liquorice nuances. Full bodied on the palate with ripe fruit and peppery spice.
Alongside the quality of their wine, the château are also famous for commissioning world famous artists to create their labels with a new design featuring each year. The 2015 vintage features a label design by the renowned Gerhard Richter.
