Opus One is a joint venture between Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, and Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux. The winery was founded in 1979, and the first vintage was released in 1984. The 1997 vintage is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Expect a full-bodied wine, with notes of black cherries, plums, cedar and dark chocolate. Opus One is a limited production wine, and it is only available in small quantities.
