The Passopisciaro winery sits at about around 1000m elevation on the volcanic northern slopes of Mount Etna. Passorosso is made from 100% local variety, Nerello Mascalese, blending several parcels of differing altitudes and soil types.
The 2017 release was reviewed by Italian wine critic, Kerin O`Keefe as follows, `Aromas of ripe wild berry and Mediterranean scrub alongside a whiff of eucalyptus take shape in the glass. Juicy and smooth, the palate offers crushed raspberry, strawberry compote, licorice and notes of exotic incense framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. A tangy mineral note gives the finish tension. Drink through 2027.`
