Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino 1991 is a mature-vintage, Sangiovese red wine from the Tuscany region of central Italy. Tenuta Il Poggione boasts a stellar reputation for producing fine, long-aged Sangiovese wines, in particular its flagship Brunello di Montalcinos. Winemaking at the estate has been overseen by Alessandro Bindocci, the son of former winemaker Fabrizio Bindocci, since 2005. This 1991 bottling is the estate Rosso di Montalcino – a wine made from younger vines than the Il Poggione Brunellos, which is aged for about a year before release. Expect mature cherry and strawberry fruit notes with hints of earth, tobacco and spices.
