This wine is named after a generous benefactor, Joseph Menault, who donated vineyards to the Hôtel-Dieu in 1992. All the vines needed replanting, and this took place in 1994 and 1998. Over half of the grapes used in this cuvée comes from a steeply sloping vineyard, Le Village Haut, located above 400 metres, near the highest point of Saint-Romain. The remaining fruit comes from Sous la Velle, 50 meters lower down. Expect a Chardonnay with intense perfume, raciness and minerality.
