Thorne and Daughters Paper Kite 2021

Thorne and Daughters Paper Kite 2021 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Semillon produced from old vines in the Swartland region of South Africa. Planted on alluvial and granitic soil, the vineyard from which John and Tasha Seccombe produce their Paper Kite cuvée is planted with a number of old clones of Semillon (including a tiny amount of Semillon Gris ) which deliver a very distinctive expression of the grape variety. Spontaneous fermentation took place in old oak barrels and the wine was matured in the same neutral oak. The wine shows savoury aromas of ginger, soft yellow fruit and wood spice. The palate is full and rounded with almond flesh and yellow melon notes and a finish of Cape gooseberry.
