Since 1840, The Glen Grant distillery, in Rothes, Speyside has been crafting exception single malt whiskies. The distillery adheres to some of the tradition methods of production under the supervision of Scotland’s longest serving distiller, Master Distiller Dennis Malcom OBE. The distillery still uses wooden fermenters, ages its maturing stock in traditional stone dunnage warehouses and bottles every drop at the distillery.

The founding of Maison Louis Jadot dates back to 1859 when Louis Henri Denis Jadot set up as a merchant in Beaune. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy. Louis Jadot now produces wines from over 150 appellations, and it is in the fortunate position of having almost 125ha of vineyards in the Cote d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. In line with recent trends in the Cote d’Or, Louis Jadot has moved towards a more sustainable style of viticulture and a winemaking philosophy of minimal intervention, favouring use of indigenous yeasts and trying to control temperatures as little as possible. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

Unhurried since 1833, when everything is hurtling along around us, Glengoyne holds true to practices honed over centuries, having been family owned since 2003. Their unique whisky distillation process has evolved little by little in pursuit of perfection over the best part of two centuries. Their barley is only ever air dried, their stills are the slowest in Scotland and their casks take six years to prepare. Records show that in 1897, Tamdhu's founders secured the first shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now 125 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Tamdhu is 100% sherry oak matured from beginning to end. Nothing less, as they believe this style creates the finest single malt Scotch whisky.
We are happy to welcome Alan Wardrop, Head of Sales (Prestige), to host us for an evening of tales and delights of these two prized Scotch producers, Glengoyne and Tamdhu.
