Tignanello, the most renowned among Marchesi Antinori`s wines, sprawls across 57 hectares on a southwest-facing slope, boasting limestone-rich soils at an elevation of 350-400 meters above sea level. This wine holds historical significance as the first in the region to blend Sangiovese with non-traditional international varieties, and notably omit white grapes, leading to its initial classification as a Vino da Tavola and its current status as a Toscana IGT. The 1980 vintage exhibits a prominent raisin character on the nose, accompanied by balsamic, beef bouillon, tobacco leaf, and herbal notes. On the palate, it presents a tangy cranberry finish, featuring robust acidity and subtle tannins.
