Clos Apalta Casa Lapostolle 1999 is a mature, full-bodied Bordeaux-style red wine from the Colchagua Valley of Chile. Produced under the guidance of Michel Rolland since its first vintage, in 1997, Clop Apalta combines high proportions of Carmenère with more typical Bordeaux varieties. The 1999 vintage is an assemblage of 35% Carmenère, 30% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Malbec. "Crammed with fruit, this raspberry confiture-scented red oozes blackberry, raspberry and cassis flavours, with a well-integrated dose of sweet toast. Crushed velvet texture and a long, powerful finish complete the package. This seductive wine should easily convert any nonbelievers." Wine Spectator, 2002
