Galatrona is the `Grand Cru` of Merlot from Petrolo, originating from the vineyard of the same name planted between the late 1980s and the mid-1990s with low-vigor Bordeaux clones. The vineyard covers an area of 10 hectares, with a total of almost 50,000 vines which are certified organic. The grapes undergo a natural fermentation process with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks. The wine is aged for up to 20 months in carefully selected French oak barriques and tonneaux, with one-third being new. Regular stirring of the lees for the first 8 months.
