La Baixada Alvaro Palacios 2020

Alvaro Palacios La Baixada 2020 is a single-vineyard Garnacha from the Priorat region of Spain. Álvaro Palacios has quickly come to be recognised as one of Spain’s greatest winemakers. With a focus on local varieties from exceptionally old, low-yielding vines, he is consistently crafting some of the country’s finest wines. La Baixada is made from younger vines growing on steep slopes of licorella slate. Around 2% of white grapes were added to the wine, which was matured in a French oval foudre for 14 months. "Such a pure, mineral nose here, creating the effect of a fine gauze of chalk and wet stone shadowing the red and blue berries and wild strawberries, providing a nuanced and implicit feel. Undertones of iron, spiced flowers and moss, too.
