Veyder Malberg Wosendorfer Hochrain Gruner Veltliner Magnum 2015

Weingut Veyder-Malberg Wösendorfer Hochrain Grüner Veltliner 2015 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard, dry white wine produced from Grüner Veltliner grapes in the Wachau region of Austria. Since 2008, Peter Veyder-Malberg has been making huge waves with his pioneering complex and terroir-driven micro-cuvées of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from old vines in the Wachau. Peter`s Wösendorfer Hochrain comes from the terraced slopes of the Hochrain in Wösendorf, a site on whose deep loess soils Grüner Veltliner thrives. "A dominance of white peach and lime on both the nose and the polished palate could (yet again this vintage!) have come from Riesling. But the wine also benefits from subtly earthy, nutty and invigoratingly incisive contributions of turnip, fresh spinach and cress. It finishes with sappy, resonant persistence, a cyanic glow of peach kernel reinforcing bites of peppery cress." Vinous, 2017
