Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino 1973 is a mature-vintage Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino hills of Tuscany. Founded in the 1800s, Il Poggione is one of the most historic estates in Montalcino and has been owned in the Franceschi family for five generations. The estate`s reputation for producing some of the best wines in the region was cemented by former winemaker Pierluigi Talenti (1958-1999). Talenti was succeeded by Fabrizio Bindocci, who was in turn succeeded by his own son, Alessandro. This Brunello is from 1973, a vintage that proved challenging for most winegrowing regions of Tuscany, but where a number of distinguished, long-aged Brunellos were produced.
